How to add files to my web hosting service on cPanel?

Use cPanel's File Manager to upload a document, image or website files to the correct directory on your hosting account.

Identify the destination directory

In cPanel, open Domains and locate the relevant domain's document root. The primary domain often uses public_html, but an addon domain may use another directory.

Upload files

Open Files > File Manager.
Open the destination directory, then click Upload.
Select the files or drag them into the upload area.
Wait for the transfer to finish and return to File Manager to check the uploaded files.

Check the result

Open the file's public URL if you placed it in the web directory. For multiple files, you can upload a ZIP archive and extract it. Check the directory structure to avoid accidentally creating an extra folder level.

If the upload fails

Check the disk quota, allowed file size and directory permissions. Back up the existing version before replacing it. Do not place passwords, SQL backups or private documents in a publicly accessible directory.
