Thunderbird can detect settings for many mailboxes. If it does not recognize your service, use the IMAP and SMTP values provided by CAP CONNECT.
Prepare the information
Have your complete email address, password, server names, ports and encryption method ready. Do not infer the server from another mailbox or an old screenshot.
Add the account
- In a recent Thunderbird version, open the email account addition menu.
- Enter your display name and email address.
- Search for settings or choose manual configuration.
- Check IMAP or POP, the incoming server, SMTP server, encryption and authentication.
- Confirm the configuration and, if requested by the provider, authorize access through its official sign-in screen.
Check sending and receiving
Send a message to an external mailbox and reply. Check that the correct SMTP server is associated with the account, especially if you manage several addresses.
If your interface differs
Recent versions provide Account Hub, while older versions use a setup wizard. Menu labels may vary, but the settings to check are those supplied by your provider. Do not bypass a certificate warning.
