What is SiteJet Builder?
SiteJet Builder is the new website builder tool developed by the web hosting giant cPanel. This innovative solution allows you to offer an easy-to-use website builder without needing any code, suitable for all skill levels. It helps you compete with DIY (Do It Yourself) builders and expand your customer base without risking client loss or compromising retention. Furthermore, SiteJet Builder is included with your cPanel hosting at no additional cost, giving you an advantage over your competitors and enabling you to generate revenue by setting a price and keeping all the profits.
How to Create Your Site with SiteJet Builder?
To get started, log in to your cPanel dashboard and click on SiteJet Builder:
Note: When you publish a website with SiteJet, the system will remove all files and subdirectories from the selected domain’s root directory. This includes the .htaccess file and all subdirectories.
You will then be able to view and manage the domain’s root directory in the cPanel domain interface (cPanel » Home » Domains » Domains).
Create a New Domain
Before doing anything, start by creating a domain. If you already have a domain with a website on it, you’ll need to create a new one for hosting the SiteJet website.
In the image below, you’ll notice a domain I own, but I can’t use it because it’s already associated with a custom website. However, the other domain can be used since no website is attached to it. If that’s not the case for you, the solution would be to create a new domain, as demonstrated below.
Click on “Create a New Domain,” and the system will redirect you to the domain interface (cPanel » Home » Domains » Domains).
Create a Site with SiteJet Builder
By clicking on “Create a Site with SiteJet Builder,” a new interface will appear for you to choose a template. Click on “Change Template” to proceed.
Choose a Template
A large library with hundreds of templates to choose from will appear. Select the one you want to work with, and you will be redirected to the SiteJet Builder editor.
You can now customize your website by modifying the template, starting with the header and title. Then, you can adjust the colors, fonts, and images according to your preferences. Don’t forget to add your text and multimedia content to make your site unique and attractive. Once satisfied with your changes, make sure to save your work by clicking the appropriate button.
How to Solve the “You Cannot Create a SiteJet Site Right Now” Message?
You might see a domain listed in the SiteJet Builder interface that does not allow the creation of a website with SiteJet. The following issues may affect your ability to create a website with SiteJet:
Shared Document Root
- You cannot use a document root directory shared with SiteJet. To resolve this issue, do one of the following:
- Use the main domain. Create a new domain. Delete the second dependent domain. You can now create a SiteJet website for that domain.
- For more information about domains, refer to our documentation on the domain interface (cPanel » Home » Domains » Domains).
Redirected Website
- A redirect allows you to redirect one domain to another domain, either to a website or a specific web page. For example, you can create a redirect so that www.example.com automatically redirects users to www.example.net. You cannot use a redirected website with SiteJet.
- To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Go to the redirection interface (cPanel » Home » Domains » Redirects). Go to Current Redirects. Locate the redirected domain you want and click on Delete. A confirmation box will appear. Click on Delete Redirection. A success message will appear. You can now create a SiteJet website for that domain.
Document Root Directory Contains Files
If your document root directory contains files, you cannot publish a website with SiteJet. To resolve this issue, you need to delete the files from this folder. If you want to back up a copy of your files, follow these steps:
- Go to the domain interface (cPanel » Home » Domains » Domains).
- Click on the document root listed next to the desired domain. The File Manager interface (cPanel » Home » Files » File Manager) will appear.
- Click on Select All in the menu. Then click on Compress in the toolbar.
- The Compress text box will appear. Select Zip Archive.
- The system will use the name of the first file in the directory by default.
- You can use this name or change it to something else, for example, /public_html/backup.zip.
- Then click Compress Files. This will compress all the files in your document root directory.
- Find the compressed file and select it. Then click on Download in the toolbar.
Your backup will be downloaded from the document root directory to your local machine. You can now delete the files from this directory.
You can now create a SiteJet website for that domain.
