What types of backups are available on JetBackup?
JetBackup gives you access to several types of backups and indeed contains a sub-tool for each type.
The sub-tools are presented as follows:
Full backups: Complete backup of your web hosting
File backups: File backup
Cron Job Backups: Backup of predefined Cron job definitions. Indeed, Cron is a utility program that allows you to schedule a specific task at a precise time in a repetitive manner.
Database Backups: Database backup
Email Backups: Backup of email accounts and messages.
Queue: This tool allows you to track the restore or backup actions you’ve performed and their downloads.
NB: Restoring a backup from JetBackup on cPanel may result in overwriting the current data on the hosting account.
Indeed, when you restore a specific backup of a file, for example, it results in replacing the content of the current version of the file with the content from the backup.
To avoid this issue, you can make a copy of your current data before proceeding with the restore operation or perform a manual backup.
Restoring via JetBackup 5
If you want to restore a backup from JetBackup on cPanel, please follow these steps:
1- Log in to your cPanel interface.
2- Go to the Files section and click on JetBackup 5
3- Click on the “Home directory” option
4- You will be presented with a table view containing all backups of the files from your web hosting account. Please find the date from which you want to restore the files and click on it.
The backup version you select will be highlighted in orange after clicking on it.
Backup Options
Restore – Restore the selected backups and add them to the queue. At this stage, you can remove backup items from the restoration. If you want to remove a backup item from the restoration, click on “Remove Items” under the category to remove it from the restoration.
Download – Download the selected backups and add them to the queue. At this stage, you can remove backup items from the download. If you want to remove a backup item from the download, click on “Remove Items” under the category to remove it from the download.
Both options allow you to customize the items you want to restore or download before adding them to the queue on your server.
5- Click on “Restore Selected Items”
You will be redirected to the “Queue” section of the JetBackup 5 interface, where you can monitor the progress of the restoration process. When the restoration is complete, the Status column in the table will display a green “Completed” text.
The restoration process may take some time depending on the number and size of the files you are restoring. If the process takes more than an hour, please check with our technical support team to see if the restoration is still in progress.
