Let's Encrypt issues TLS certificates that enable HTTPS. On cPanel hosting, AutoSSL may handle issuance depending on the options and certificate authority enabled by your provider.
Check validation requirements
The domain must be associated with the account and point correctly to your hosting. Incorrect DNS, an incompatible CAA record or inaccessible validation can prevent issuance.
Check certificate status
- Sign in to cPanel.
- Open SSL/TLS Status or the equivalent tab in SSL/TLS Certificates.
- Find the domain and names to protect.
- Check the status and any errors. If an AutoSSL action is available, use it; otherwise ask support to check whether it is enabled.
Enable HTTPS on the website
Once the certificate is valid, test HTTPS. You can then use the HTTPS redirect offered in Domains or a method suitable for your application. Check that images, scripts and stylesheets also use secure addresses.
What the certificate protects
TLS encrypts traffic between the client and server. It does not make an application invulnerable, guarantee search rankings or replace updates and backups.
