DOMAIN NAMES

What does the redemption period of a domain name mean?

The redemption period is the status a TLD (top-level domain) adopts when it is not renewed on time after its expiration.

Indeed, when it reaches its expiration date and is no longer registered in your name, it is said to have expired and enters a period called the redemption period, which follows the grace period.

That being said, after the expiration of your domain name, your website and email services (etc.) will no longer function, and you will not be able to make any changes. In other words, you lose control over your services if you do not renew your domain name on time.

Additionally, when you fail to renew your domain name, you take the significant risk of someone else purchasing that same domain, and you may no longer have access to it for an indefinite period.

To avoid all this, it is essential to renew your domain name before it expires and before it enters the redemption period.

That being said, you should know its expiration date by heart and the renewal conditions offered by your registrar.
