Domain expiration means that it was registered but not renewed by its due date. After expiration, it is no longer available on the Internet.
The renewal conditions for an expired domain vary depending on its extension. However, one rule applies to those managed by ICANN (.com, .info, .net, etc.).
A domain name can be reactivated after its expiration based on the following conditions:
- 20 to 45 days after expiration: The domain is in a grace period, but it can still be renewed by the holder.
- 45 to 75 days: The domain enters the redemption period and may be purchased by others. During this period, the holder can still restore it, but with additional fees.
- 75 to 80 days: The domain enters the “Pending Deletion” phase.
- After 5 days, the domain is deleted and becomes available for registration again.
You can still order and register a new domain name.
