What is a DNS Zone?
A DNS zone is a DNS management space administered by the domain owner. In this sense, a DNS zone can be considered an administrative unit; it is not the same as a domain or a specific nameserver. A DNS zone includes at least one domain and, if applicable, other subdomains. However, subdomains can also be implemented as separate zones.
Managing a DNS Zone on cPanel
1. Log in to your cPanel account
2. Go to the Domains section and click on the Zone Editor menu.
3. Click on the Manage button next to the domain whose DNS zone you want to modify.
In the following menu, you can add new records, modify existing ones, or reset the DNS zone.
Adding New Records
If you want to add a new record, click on +Add record:
You can then choose the type of record you want to add: AAAA, CAA, CNAME, DMARC, MX, SRV, and TXT.
Editing Records
To modify existing records, select the record you want to edit from the list of current DNS records. Click on Edit.
Enter the required values and click Save Record to save the changes.
Resetting the DNS Zone
It is possible to reset the DNS zone of your domain to a default zone. In this case, the system will erase all changes you have made to your zone records within this interface or the DNS zone in your client area. Before resetting your zone file, ensure that you have noted down any changes you want to keep.
To reset the zone, click on Manage next to a domain, click on the Action button, then Reset Zone.
