DOMAIN NAMES

How to add an alias to cPanel?

Creating an alias for your domain on cPanel may be necessary in some cases.

What is an alias?

Creating an alias, or a parked domain, means creating a new domain name that directs to your main website. One could say that a parked domain simply refers to another domain name for the same website.

This allows your users to land on and be automatically redirected to your site even if they try to enter your alias domain instead.

Example: “Capconnect.ma” is a parked domain of “Capconnect.com” and “fb.com” is a parked domain of “facebook.com.”

Note: There is a difference between an additional domain, a subdomain, and an alias.

How to create a domain alias on cPanel?

To create a parked domain, you first need to own a domain name (Order a .ma domain).

If you already have one, follow these steps:

1- Log in to your cPanel interface.

2- Go to the Domains section and click on Alias.

A confirmation message will appear indicating the creation of your new domain.

Once added, it is recommended to create a redirect to your main domain to avoid penalties for duplicate content in search engines.

You can set up a redirect by returning to the Alias screen in cPanel and clicking on Manage Redirects in the list of aliases at the bottom. There, enter the full URL of your main domain (including http://) and click Save.
