An domain name has a determined validity period, usually ranging between 1 year and 10 years. For this reason, and to retain ownership of the domain and prevent losing it, it is essential to renew your domain name before its expiration date. Forgetting to renew your domain can have major consequences, such as it being bought by anyone once the domain becomes available or incurring high restoration fees.

When can I renew my domain name?
Just like registration, renewing the domain name is crucial to keep the domain active for an extended period. Therefore, it is necessary to renew your domain before its expiration date to continue using it, as well as all associated services (such as hosting or professional email).
Cap Connect simplifies the domain renewal process directly from your client area to ensure that your domains never expire. Let’s see how you can renew your domain name.
Note: For national gTLD domain extensions (.am, .at, .be, .br, .ca, .cn, .ch, .com.cn, .net.cn, .org.cn, .de, .eu, .fm, .fr, .gs, .it, .jp, .ms, .nu, .nl, .nz, .co.nz, .net.nz, .org.nz, .tc, .tk, .tw, .com.tw, .org.tw, .idv.tw, .uk, and .vg), renewal must occur at least 1 month before the expiration date.
Renewal before the expiration date
To prevent your domain from expiring, Cap Connect sends multiple reminders via email or SMS 1 month before the expiration date. It is important to keep your contact information up to date to receive notifications related to domain renewal.
If you wish to keep your domain, we recommend acting immediately when you receive the first renewal reminder. You can directly click on the online payment link provided in the first reminder email. The link will redirect you to the invoice to be paid. Once logged in, you can select your preferred payment method and proceed with the payment. We advise using online payment for a fast domain renewal. Once the payment is confirmed on our end, the domain will be renewed immediately.
If you can’t find the reminder email, you can simply log into your client area and pay your invoice available in the Billing section.
A notification confirming the renewal of your domain will be sent to your email address as soon as the domain is renewed. You will also notice that the expiration date has been extended by the renewal period you have paid for.
Early Renewal
You can renew your domain name at any time during its validity period.
Please note that early renewal does not change your domain’s expiration date. Even if you decide to renew the domain before its expiration, it does not shorten the validity duration.
To renew your domain name at any time, please follow the steps below:
Click on ‘Domains’ displayed on the homepage.
On the next page, click on the dropdown next to the domain name you want to renew, and then click on ‘Renew’.
You choose the renewal period for your domain name. For the .ma extension, the maximum renewal period is 5 years. For gTLD extensions like .com, .net, .org, etc., you can renew your domain name for up to 10 years.
Complete your renewal order and proceed with the payment of your invoice. The domain will then be renewed for the selected period.
My domain name has expired, can I still renew it?
If you find that you missed renewing your domain before its expiration and it has expired, you will need to log into your client area to check if you can still renew it. Please note that all services linked to the domain will stop working after its expiration.
For gTLD extensions
If the domain status shows EXPIRED, you can still renew the domain. Generally, this grace period lasts 30 days.
If the domain status shows REDEMPTION PERIOD, this means the domain can still be renewed at the normal renewal rate plus restoration fees. These fees vary by registrar. You can contact our support team for assistance with the restoration process.
If your domain is not renewed during the grace period, it will enter the ‘Pending Deletion’ phase, which lasts approximately 5 days. During this period, the domain cannot be restored. It will then be made available to the public for new registration.
For the .ma extension
If you missed renewing your .ma domain before its expiration date, the domain will directly enter the PENDING DELETE phase for 30 days. During this period, you can still renew your domain at the normal rate without additional fees. In some cases, the .ma domain remains active even during the redemption period.
At the end of the redemption period, the .ma domain will become available again and can be registered by anyone on a first-come, first-served basis.
